Solid Data Expands Backup and Data Protection Services with Quantum

Solid Data serves customers with rigorous technical requirements, including managed service providers, system integrators, software vendors, and value-added resellers. Building Backup and Disaster Recovery Services on Quantum
With the help of NETECH, an Italian-based system integrator, the company selected Quantum to provide the foundation for backup and disaster recovery services. “The history of the Quantum brand was certainly a plus,” says Alessio Bleggi, CTO of Solid Data. The company was also impressed with Quantum’s innovation and the quality of service it could offer.

Over time, the team implemented a multi-tiered Quantum storage environment that included Quantum QXS-Series hybrid storage, a Quantum DXi-Series backup appliance, and a Quantum Scalar tape library. The Quantum solutions integrate seamlessly with Veeam Backup & Replication software—industry-leading backup, recovery, and data security software for on-premises and cloud workloads.

Meeting Demand for Offsite Backup with Quantum ActiveScale
The Solid Data team further expanded its Quantum environment, deploying Quantum ActiveScale object storage to accommodate growing demand for offsite backup services. ActiveScale’s S3 compatibility allows organizations to use Solid Data backup services with S3-enabled apps and workflows. Like the other Quantum solutions, ActiveScale integrates tightly with Veeam software.

The team deployed ActiveScale at a single site initially. Solid Data plans to implement the solution at two other geographically separated locations as well. The company will be able to capitalize on ActiveScale’s geo-spreading capabilities, which spread objects across multiple locations to help ensure high availability.

Improving Scalability and Performance While Streamlining Management
ActiveScale provides the scalability that Solid Data needs to support customers’ continuously expanding data volumes. At the same time, it delivers exceptional performance. “We weren’t expecting such high performance from a long-term, object-storage solution,” says Bleggi. “But with ActiveScale, our backup services border on excellence.” Working with a single vendor for offsite backup has greatly simplified support and ongoing management. “By implementing ActiveScale, we have strengthened our offsite backup services,” says Bleggi. “We built our entire Veeam service provider backup solution on ActiveScale.”
